The Arc of the Trip

Five days in the Terai

Day 1

Arrive & ease in

Settle in Sauraha, an afternoon canoe on the Rapti and a riverside sunset to find the rhythm of the place.

Day 2

Full-day jeep safari

Deep into the park toward Kasara — grasslands, the gharial breeding centre and the best odds of rhino, deer and, with luck, tiger sign.

Day 3

Narayani River boat & birding

A boat trip on the larger Narayani for gharial, mugger and the rare Gangetic dolphin (season and water levels permitting), plus a dawn birding session.

Day 4

Tharu homestay & culture

Move to a buffer-zone village homestay — village life, cooking, the cultural museum, and an authentic evening of music and dance.

Day 5

Wetlands & slow farewell

A final morning at the Bis Hajar Tal wetlands for birds, then an unhurried departure.

Indicative only. Some activities (notably the Narayani boat trip and dolphin sightings) are seasonal and water-level dependent. Book licensed guides and confirm current park rules.
